With elements of documentary and explorative themes, Michael Battaglia’s photographs are a collection of streets and cityscapes. Choosing locations in which he is able to flatten the perception of space, he creates a detailed linear arrangement of structures and shadows. These arrangements are backed with a wide tonal range that renders extended detail and focuses the viewer’s attention. The photographs are a reminder about the power of perception, and a celebration of the transformative and mysterious agency of light. He is currently living and working in Philadelphia, PA.
