Steve Weinik is a Philadelphia based photographer, writer and researcher. He works both on freelance projects and as the Staff Photographer for the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. With a focus on still images and narrative research, Weinik pursues solo projects as well as collaborative work with visual artists, writers, journalists, web developers and film makers.
His work (research, photography, production and on-screen) on the 2011 documentary Resurrect Dead, helped earn the movie a trip to the Sundance film festival, where it won the directing award in the United States Documentary category.
His work has been published in the New York Times, The Washington Post, National Geographic, The Guardian, Juxtapoz, Wired.com, Time Magazine, Popular Photography, The Sundance Institute as well as dozens of other books, periodicals, newspapers and on countless websites.
Weinik lives with his family in Northwest Philadelphia. Much of his work is focused in the the city’s arts and nonprofit sector. He is always seeking new and interesting projects.
