I began shooting portraits of people I approached on Philadelphia streets in 2007 as a way to train myself to make subjects comfortable in front of the camera and engage with new people every day. I figured that if I could do it in 60 seconds with a stranger, then I could do it anywhere. I’ve photographed people on three continents and use photography as the vehicle to become a more present and engaged person. In February of 2015, I visited Vietnam to travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi via motorbike. I used this time to stop whenever necessary to take portraits of real people going about their day to day lives. From this trip, “Wandering Vietnam” was born.
