Come on out Thursday August 14, 2014 from 7p - 9p to hear Brad Maule talk about the roadtrip that inspired his August show here at Gravy: The Turnaround. Here's a link to the Facebook event and here's a taste of what Brad will talk about:
Heading out across the US, the last two of the continental 48 states I had to cross off my list were Nebraska and South Dakota. This scene, on US-20 in northern Nebraska, epitomizes the American open road. Anyone can drive the interstates and see the same truck stops and Walmarts and McDonalds in Everywhere, USA ... but get out onto the old US highways and country roads and things are different, beautiful, heartbreaking, weird, inexplicable. All of these accurately describe my foray into state #48, South Dakota - the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Sturgis, the Pine Ridge Indian reservation.
South Dakota, the Four Corners, and the "largest cross in the Western Hemisphere," in Texas - these and other stories behind the photos, Thursday August 14th at The Storytelling Jawn.
Gravy Gallery & Studio is at 155 Cecil B Moore, 2nd Fl.
